A thought....
Could we be on the brink of a Phracturing of the Phuckers?
The Unreligious Wrong is seriously miffed at Jeb n' George for not violating state and federal law by goin in that hospice and force feeding Terri a Whatmeal. Now, given that the Repubs have, of late, derived mucho power from the Bibble-thumpin meatheads whose use for law seems to be limited to when it benefits them, might it follow that a Righter-Right may emerge that is so out there that they syphon votes from the Georgie crowd? Now we know that two wrongs don't make a right, but in this case two rights make for a BIG fuckin' WRONG.
Fortunately, they're so warped they could never get elected.
I think.
But, perhaps it would split the Pub Hairs long enough for some sanity to get in office.
I'd like that about as much as Terri would like a tube-infused taco.
Raise the flag.

perhaps the threat to tamper with the social security status quo has given the whole bush thing a new stench in the land of our retirement plopulation, aka fantasyland at disneyworld. plus, the right to lifers among them may also be pissed jeb's not rescuing their terri toy play thing.

I wonder how the families of all the other folks waiting to die in that hospice feel when they look out the window and there's all this noisey crap going on for the chick down the hall they used to call "lil squeally".
Overheard on the news today...
Jeb is "seriously considering" making a run for the presidency in 08.
Shit...they do want a dynasty.
Here me now.
NO MO BUSH...
Of any kind,
Of any first name,
Of any ilk.
Gotta nip this in the bud before it ever starts to germinate.

Indeed...Herefore art I.
I think the Schiavo issue is bringing alot about the repubs to light that we knew all along but that many others would not recognize.
Simply, many in the party are guided by Jee-zus first and foremost.
Its interesting to read your perspective on the community college vs. university student mindsets. Having taught community college and university students as well, I find my top priority to be to instill a desire to "question" in my students, and that questioning is not to be feared or viewed as traitorism. Anything worth its weight in Spam, wonderful Spam will stand strong against any level of inquiry.
Of course, the Tom Dull-Hey folks kinda have a hard time grasping that concept.
welcome back. I wondered wherefore art thou.

I'm in the middle of 2 days of group/class discussions on nationalism.

it's been kinda interesting. the community college students, predictably, have been more duped than the smu students in terms of propaganda. they see all the flags and stickers as positive signs of national unity, which for the most part, they think of as highly positive.

smu students, with more access to law, government, philosophy, liberal arts classes, see the more negative aspects of public manipulation and the real media bias of business and reactionary politics. they have a much more balanced perspective on our position in the world and why people see us as they do.

for one thing, they travel a great deal more and get to see international response to US policies upclose and personal. too bad the community college "population" is growing so much faster. on the other hand, looking around the collin county class yesterday, I'd be hard pressed to find a majority/minority anything. chinese, japanese and korean students sitting next to mexican, indian, british. out of a class of 20 attending students, only 4 of them were waspy with only one good old boy in the bunch.

talk about cultural diversity. still, as second generation americans, they already talk in terms of adhering to the american culture and way of thinking. and not questioning it.

that's where I come in.

A looooong respite from idiocy...a nice spring break....hope yours was good too. Do anything memorable?

I return with a Native American tale given to me by my previously staunchly repuglican mom.

President Bush given the Indian name of "WALKIN' EAGLE"

President Bush was invited to address a major gathering of the American Indian Nation last weekend in Arizona. He spoke for almost an hour on his future plans for increasing every Native American's present standard of living. He referred to his career as Governor of Texas, how he had signed "YES" 1,237 times - for every Indian issue that came to his desk for approval. Although the President was vague on the details of his plan, he seemed most enthusiastic about his future ideas for helping his "red brothers". At the conclusion of his speech, the Tribes presented the President with a plaque inscribed with his new Indian name - "Walking Eagle." The proud President then departed in his motorcade, waving to the crowds. A news reporter later inquired to the group of chiefs of how they come to select the new name given to the President. They explained that "Walking Eagle" is the name given to a bird so full of shit it can no longer fly.

Now....will those bastards quit tryin to interject themselves in life an fuckin death issues all in the name of political power?

I have returned...

thought of the day:

George W. IS our Gross National Product.

if we can just hang in there, maybe we can avoid WW III. the dems seem to be putting up a bit of a fight. anything short of nukes is a bit of a victory under the circumstances.

I've been thinking we live in a country of liberals v literalists. people who respond to shades of meaning and multi-perspective understanding v those who respond to ancient iconic words like evil and freedom.

doesnt matter who says the words. whenever they hear certain words, like "the troops" "democracy" "dictator" "them", the knees start jerking all over the place and they cant wait to see blood and fire.

hypocritical christians cant wait to destroy us in the name of fairness and love while politicos and white collars lead them down the road to record profits and world domination.

why would you want to dominate Anything you have to set ablaze first?

Yep...here it is.
Bushy is saying, "Syria...get outta Lebanon...or else." Only this time the French are right there with us.
I saw his ass...and the rest of him...on TV today and the arrogance in his facial expressions was amazing. Worse than I've seen beefwhore.
Is it time for early balloting for 2008 yet?
Wake me when its time.
